Hanham Minor League U11’s  Division B

Bristol City Juniors Supporters Club V Fry Club Juniors

1st Half

Frys got off to a good start to this match and attacked the home side from the whistle, not giving them a chance to settle.  Fry Club was able to play the ball around at their own pace with plenty of confidence across the pitch. When BCSC got the ball they were very eager to feed their strikers but with the Fry’s defence pushing forward the home side were continually caught off side. Fry’s would then counter attack making good use of the wings with Ben Harper and Kyle Morris in the centre of midfield finding wingers Perry May and Ben Clapp who would work tirelessly to pick out striker Mitchell Thornton but he was unable to capitalize on the good work from his team mates.  Again the home side were relentless with their reply to Fry’s good work and continued to feed the front two players but with Jonathan Shorland and Mickey Parsons controlling the back four there was no way through for them.

With five minutes to go in the first half the home side muscled their way through Frys midfield and tried to thread the ball through to their strikers. Jonathan Shorland came running out at the through ball but was unable to avoid the ball striking his hand and the City were awarded a penalty that was slotted home by George Pool for the home side to go one up.

Frys continued to press but were unable to find the net before the end of the fist half.

2nd Half

Frys started the half with every intention of at least getting a point from this game, with everybody playing to their strengths and refusing to be muscled off the ball. Frys pushed forward and having most of the possession Kyle Morris won the ball in the middle of midfield and threaded a long ball through to Mitchell Thornton who coolly slotted  past the keeper to make it 1–1.

With their confidence high, Frys continued to create chances. With Daniel Kendall winning the ball in midfield and feeding winger Kyran Goverd who kept good possession before knocking the ball forward to Kyle Morris. He shot low and hard forcing the keeper to push the ball out for a throw. With a quick throw taken by Charlie Goodwin the ball was passed back to him and an accurate cross put the ball in the box only for Nathan Munford to connect and put the it over the bar.

The home side refused to lye down and retaliated with some good passing down their left wing but with Charlie Goodwin at his best at right back and Mickey Parsons strong in the centre of defence City failed to get the ball past them.

Fry Club gathered their strength and pressed forward. With Daniel Kendall controlling the play well in the centre of midfield, he supplied Kyle Morris with a well-timed pass to run on to but with nothing on the end.

Again Daniel won the ball in the middle and set up Perry and Nathan who both failed to beat the home keeper who kept his side in it to take a point from a very hard fought game.
